Centre Square Development Moves forward

DEVELOPER Ashall Projects has moved a step forward with its Centre Square development in Middlesbrough.

Hoardings have now been installed around the site with the 14 month build programme due to commence imminently. Ashall Projects gained planning consent for the 210,000 sq ft project in May 2017.

The mix of Grade A office accommodation and leisure use including bars and restaurants will rub shoulders with the Centre Square’s internationally renowned art gallery MIMA and new Holiday Inn Express.

Ashall Projects has worked closely with Middlesbrough Council to create a flagship scheme that will attract high end employers to around 210,000 sq ft of modern office space. The development will cater for up to 1,500 employees, generating an estimated £1 million in business rates per year.

Located within close proximity to the town centre and Middlesbrough train station, the development is set to attract national interest.

The offices will be delivered in phases, with full planning permission in place for the first stage, and outline permission secured for the second.

Mark Ashall, Director Ashall Projects said:
“Our aim is to create a new distinctive commercial hub at the cultural and civic heart of Middlesbrough which is integrated with high quality public realm, green space and local amenities - a desirable place to work, visit and relax.

“We are really pleased to be working with our partners to deliver the scheme and look forward to work commencing on-site. We will be working closely with the construction team and local community groups to operate a community involvement scheme throughout the build programme.”

Middlesbrough Mayor Dave Budd said: “This project will be transformative for our city centre, bringing jobs and opportunities in the heart of Middlesbrough and it is fantastic to see the reality as physical site preparations begin.

“We are about to enter a very exciting chapter in Middlesbrough’s history in terms of the developments being brought forward and this is a crucial part of our city-scale ambitions.”

Hoardings around the site are now in place with construction due to commence in the coming weeks.
