Eating & Drinking
Middlesbrough works hard and plays hard and the vibrant eating and drinking scene reflects this.
There is a booming evening economy and leisure offering that creates a powerful draw for all ages throughout the week. It’s not all pubs and clubs either, as entrepreneurs have been quick to explore niches in the marketplace for high-quality eating, micro-bars and music venues, to sit alongside some of the well-known chains. The major streets throughout the town centre already have an abundance of restaurants, bars and clubs, with further exciting new choices on the horizon. Case in point is the cluster of recently opened venues comprising SOHO nightclub, boutique bowling at Lane7 and Caribbean restaurant Turtle Bay, which have re-energised the Pinnacle building (formerly Centre North East) at the foot of Centre Square. Plans for a glamorous sky bar at the summit add to the offering. |
Middlesbrough offers a plethora of diverse cuisines all just a brief stroll from Centre Square. With Japanese, French, Italian, Caribbean, British, Turkish, Indian, Pan European, Greek and Mexican you can have lunch in all seven continents of the world without setting foot outside Middlesbrough town centre. Local standouts include mango cocktails at Macy Brown’s, fresh local produce at Oven restaurant, Indian delicacies at Akbars and specialist air dried hams at The Curing House.
